Maddalena
The love story of Cardinal Alessandro Farnese for Rebecca, a Jewish apothecary, in which he loses the papal chair and the woman he loves. Of the wrong class and religion, the converted Maddalena becomes a pawn of the Inquisition and is condemned to burn. Set in Michelangelo?s sixteenth-century Rome, the cardinal?s moral struggle reflects that of the current Roman Catholic Church, while the heroine triumphs above all, like her biblical ancestor, Saint Mary Magdalen.
